[ceph-users] Re: Replacing Ceph Monitors for Openstack

2024-12-03 Thread Adrien Georget
Thanks for pointing this out! I thought that it would be easier to manage on the Openstack side... I will discuss with the cloud team to find the best way to handle it. Maybe a live-migration of all VMs in order to refresh MONs IPs and then some database updates. Cheers, Adrien Le 29/11/2024

Hi Albert, (open question, without judgment) What is the purpose of importing users recurrently ? It seems to me that import is the complement of export, to restore. Creating in ceph and exporting (possibly) in json format is not enough ? Le mar. 3 déc. 2024 à 13:29, Albert Shih a écrit : > Le

[ceph-users] Re: what's the minimum m to keep cluster functioning when 2 OSDs are down?

2024-12-03 Thread Eugen Block
Hi, Will k=4 and m=2 achieve what I want? I know no data loss with m=2 when 2 OSDs are down, but is the cluster still functioning/writable in that case? the default min_size for EC pools is k+1, so no, in above case your pool would become inactive. Or m=3 is required to keep cluster fun

[ceph-users] what's the minimum m to keep cluster functioning when 2 OSDs are down?

Hi, With Reef, I'd like to keep the cluster functioning while 2 OSDs are down. The cluster has more than 10 nodes, each of which has 64x 2.5G threads, 256GB memory, 24x NVMe drives and 2x 25GB networking. Will k=4 and m=2 achieve what I want? I know no data loss with m=2 when 2 OSDs are down, but

Hi, https://docs.ceph.com/en/reef/rados/operations/erasure-code/#erasure-coding-with-overwrites A replica pool is required to store metadata for EC pool? My case is RBD with OpenStack. With EC pool, the RBD image has to be created like this? rbd create --size 1G --data-pool ec_pool replicated_po
