Inspiron 530 Intel Core2 processor Q6600 (2.40Ghz 1066FSB) w/Quad Core
Technology and 8MB cache
SATA 0: Samsung HD501LJ(500GB Serial ATA II Hard Drive(7200RPM))
SATA 1: PDBS DVD +/- RW DH-16W1S (16X DVD+/-
Thanks. Joseph, my box actually has Windows XP pre-installed (instead of
Vista).
So I'll check that option in my BIOS when I get back home, although I don't
recall I've seen one. I'll also send out an email to this list to ask if
someone else has solved similar problem.

I tried to install Centos 5.1 on a Dell Inspiron 530 box I just bought, but
failed due to invalid drive. The installation did not recognize either the
DVD nor the hard disk. Joseph from the community said it is likely that
Centos can't recognize the controller -- Intel SATA controller

Hi, guys,
I finally found I only need to choose the "RAID" option for SATA mode (the
other one is "IDE"). I didn't know by choosing it, Centos is able to load
the ahci driver. That solves the problem. It took ton of time for me to
figuring out the solution is such easy. I should've tried this
