YAY! How to close X on Centos7 with a keyboard sequence solved! Chapter 13  RedHat Desktop Migration and Administration gives instructions for setting up Ctrl+Alt+Backspace as the escape from X! Just followed the instructions and worked great! https://access.redhat.com/documentation/en-us/red
