this is actually a new CentOS install on a VM and I was able to compile
and install
tripwire-2.4.1.2-src. I did find that I had to compile and then install
otherwise the linker
complained. Has anyone else used tripwire on CentrOS? Is aide better? Is
there another choice?

No, this is an out-dated OpenVZ kernel, based on CentOS. :)
