Thanks to everyone for your advice. I had not yet upgraded to Cygwin 1.7 - when I first ran the setup program, it popped up a warning about the changes in 1.7, so I went to look at the website...and never went back and actually installed the upgrade! So I installed the upgrade, and got a diffe
