With some tips from Jacek M. Holeczek and after some trials, I was
able to install and run Device Emulator Standalone v 3 under wine
0.9.57 / Ubuntu 7.10 using both WM6 and WM5 images
Yet to be tested: connectivity from Linux to the emulator
