We've had a Phoenix in our lab for ~6 months, and have been very happy
with it so far.
I'm not sure how recent a development it is, but it is possibly to use
the Phoenix to set up hanging drop trays. These are slightly slower
than sitting drop trays, and require either a mirrored deep-well block
