Dear Nick, If you have access to a fluorescent microscope, you can try staining crystals with PicoGreen and seeing if they fluoresce. (see ref: Kettenberger H & Cramer P, 2006, Acta Cryst D v62 pp146-150: Kettenberger H, Cramer P.Fluorescence detection of nucleic acids and proteins in multi-compo

Hello all, We've recently installed the newest version of PHASER, and when I do a brute rotation function, I don't get an .rlist file output even though the job completes successfully. Has anyone else had this problem, and is there a way to force PHASER to output an .rlist? (I haven't been able

We have had success concentrating protein by dialyzing the sample against buffer plus 10-15% high molecular weight PEG (8-10k). It takes some trial and error to get the right concentration; sometimes it helps to do a stepwise procedure, gradually increasing the amount of PEG. Hope this helps! B

[ccp4bb] protein DNA complex screen Re: [ccp4bb] Query on program for creating random crystallization screen

Dear Rajakumara & all others interested in protein-DNA complex crystallization: I have an in-house sparse matrix screen (created with CRYSTOOL when it was still freeware) that is designed for protein-DNA complexes. It has been used in our lab successfully, with one case (so far) leading to public
