Hi Joe,
I read the blog on how to optimize GNS3 on W7 and would request some help on
one thing.
In the "Preferences" section under "General" I modified the "Terminal
Command" to read as follows:
c:\Program Files\VanDyke Software\SecureCRT\SecureCRT.EXE /script
c:\IPEXPERT\IPEXPERT\supporting fil
You can optimise it by installing Ubuntu.
Cheers,

Seriously FFS.
It takes about 20 mins to install ubuntu on a dual boot machine. This
includes the partition resizing on the cd you download.
Windows is CRAP at this stuff. Stop messing with it, stop asking why
you cant get it to work and just go with what does work.

Which terminal client do you use on your Ubuntu? I am working on building
one now, and was thinking about using wine/securecrt.

I'm not sure if this is the right place to ask this or not, but I've been
working through Vol2 Lab4 and noticed I didn't have connectivity over my
ethernet interface between R7 and R8. I scoured the configs for anything I
could find but turned up nothing. I realized that I had no ARP entries for

From what I understand Cisco CCIE Labs are moving to PuTTY so you may simplify your life using this console program. I moved from SecureCRT to PuTTY.This is what I used to have as my console command:securecrt /telnet %h %pPlain and simple, and it worked quite well.HTH.BTW, I am a heavy Linux use
It is not part of the lab. I would double check your interface IP
addresses and masks and make sure you are using the correct interfaces
and that they are in the proper VLANs. If you still have issues let
us know but it is likely a configuration issue.

Hi Vikas,
I wish I could help you there, but I have never really used GNS3. I
have diddled with it briefly and always work on real gear. I was not
the author of that blog clearly : ) There are a few guys on the list
here that are very knowledgeable on it though so hopefully you will

I'm with Joe. I use it but only on certain things. I use my home rack most of
time or rent time - for me it makes me confortable and my mind is as ease. Even
though my rack is 2620xm 3640s and 3550s I can do just about most things so I
use that.
That said when I'm on the go or at lunch at work
i will check my laptop for optimal settings for win 7, as i am running such
a setup on that.

That was my home lab when I was studying! (Same hw). It always put me at ease
too...of course that was 3.0 but you can do MOST things on that rack...by all
means not everything but it is an affordable setup : )

Hey Jon,
I wanted to add that this will usually happen if you have a wrong IP/mask or
similar...ARP will drop requests that are not on the same network.
Check your interface IP/masks and be sure you are using the correct interfaces
per the diagram. It is easy to mix up fa0/0 with fa0/1 sometime

Guys,
You should put some mention of this in the workbook 2 lab 1 because if I
hadn't been able to find this old email I wouldn't have known what was wrong
on R2 G0/0.

IPExperts,
I'm getting to the point where, even thou I understand a good deal of the
technologies pretty well. I'm still having issues with finishing a full Volume

not like I'm referring to the Doc CD a lot either (ma

Hi all,
I'm labbing Vol1 Lab 25,
I'm having an issue with the ping from R1 and R5 to address 227.0.0.44 joined

What about Cat3? It has port F0/5 in VLAN 2567 and potentially this VLAN
could have RIP updates going accross just like Cat 4.
Are reason why the VACL is not applied to this switch?
Thanks

ShortKeys Lite is a good, free choice.
For example, you can hit question mark three times, it then automatically
backspaces three times and enters the string you specify.
