Ovenbird singing in the woods this morning! Hunt Hill Rd, Dryden. It’s been
really quiet so this is very nice!

Yesterday while jogging before the storm, I flushed a small bird in the
woods which looked to have the orange crown of an ovenbird, but couldn't be
sure without binoculars. It was near another small bird on the ground
pumping its tail, which I assumed was a Louisiana waterthrush. This morning

This morning Ken and I took a walk at Sapsucker Woods, starting at the East
Trail. We heard then saw, an Ovenbird singing near the trail just beyond
the Woodleton boardwalk -- our first of year.
We also saw Northern Waterthrush at the Sherwood Observation platform, and
heard another singing later
Late this afternoon about 4:30 I walked down in the woods behind our
house on Mount Pleasant Road. I heard an *Ovenbird* sing its
"teacher-teacher-teacher" at least 4 times but could not find it.
*Ruby-crowned Kinglets* seemed to be everywhere and singing. I got nice
looks at a *Black-throate
Had our first one this morning too. I take it as a good sign for more warblers
to show up soon!

Finally an Ovenbird this morning. Far western Lindsay-Parsons Preserve, along
the Newfield-Danby town line. Ruby-crowned Kinglets everywhere. 3 Blue-headed
Vireos. I'm still hoping for some Warblers to pipe-up as the treetops warm in
the bright sunshine...

I went to bed last night with my windows open, and at 11:40 I was surprised
to hear an ovenbird's evening song -- a complicated melody reminiscent of
winter wren with a few "teachers" thrown in. It kept me awake listening for
more, but the bird did not sing again.

Hi all,
An OVENBIRD is singing every so often just south of Sapsucker Woods this
morning.

This afternoon, after walking out the back door of Corson/Mudd Hall on Cornell
Campus, I saw an Ovenbird scurrying around below the white pine near the
building. This was a first for me this year, so I thought I'd let others know.
I've certainly never seen one there before!

Sara Jane treated me to Father's Day by taking me to Oquaga Creek St.
Park for a sumptuous picnic. This park is about 10 miles SSE of
Bainbridge. I, of course, did a little birding. Before that, however,
we played frisbee golf (the course is inside the woods). We often
missed the "fairway"

7:15 am, Tuesday morning. Sitting at the breakfast table listening to House
Wren, Purple Finches, Titmice and suddenly - the loud, loud song of an
OVENBIRD! Ran outside, found it foraging under the bushes as it periodically
sang. Way early! Usually not until around May 5 at our house!

I had two OVENBIRDs singing in Michigan Hollow early this morning -
and a single BLACK-THROATED GREEN WARBLER. Both out of the basin.
