With my 7300 I use a standard USB cable and a CAT control cable which is USB to
CAT control port on the radio. I need two cables, one gets assigned to com port
4 and the other to com port 5. One com port is for logging and the other for
WSJT-X or FLDIGI. I believe keeping the cables as short as
Why did you scrap the attic location? I have mine in the attic and it works
great.

Marc,
Very funny! Nice write-up. Also, don’t take this the wrong way but you are not
good at taking tests. 😁

I have the FTM-300D and used a Lido mount that works well. The mount attaches
to floor using the seat bolt and gives you a flexible conduit up to where you
attach the faceplate. See pics on Lido mount’s website. I have the radio base
under the seat and hear it adequately but I think a remote spe
A strong solar storm can cause a complete blackout of HF communication
including the higher frequency bands. I was in a QSO a year or so ago and it
just dropped as a solar storm hit. The noise floor dropped to zero as not even
noise could propagate through the highly energized atmosphere.

If you are trying to build an end feed half wave (EFHW) antenna, the length is
in the name. A half wave at 40m is ~66 feet. Start with 67 feet and fold back
the end until you get a good SWR. You need a 49:1 transformer on one end to
get the impedance down to 50 ohm and to connect your coax. Min
Please provide more info on the Fox hunt. What time(s), who can participate,
