Hello, my fellow KJ5 class and any other new HAMs out there! I am
reaching out a helping hand.
The biggest issue I have had to date is getting my radio setup. SO

I have the TIDRADIO H3 and the Explorer QRZ-1. Cool little HTs, each

Howdy,
Great presentation tonight! Thanks Kodi. I want to get out to the

The QRZ-1 Jumpstart from GigaParts isn’t American made, but it is a cheap
HT at the $22.
Interesting if everyone has one.

Friends,
As a former embedded systems analyst, I am amused by the open source
firmware for the Tidradio TD-H3.
Where is a good place to look for the low end hardware?
I got my Giga Parts Explorer QRZ-1 after I got my ticket. It looks like
that firmware is locked down and hasn't been updated...
My buddy just passed his General and is getting all fired up for QRP.
I can dig the low power aspect. There is often an associated low cost!
Does anyone in the club have a recommendation on a QRP transceiver?
Thanks!

Howdy all,
I got to hear the tail end of the 'net yesterday on my way out to
Baytown. I was too far to call back to the repeater.
The topic was generators and I was SO ready to talk about emergency prep.
I have installed interlocks, genset inlets, breakers, whole house and
portable generators an

Hey Ralph,
My Firman is tri-fuel and has been mostly run on natural gas from the
house. It wouldn’t run on gasoline.
I have had carburetors apart before, so I dig in.
The float valve, main jet, and bowl were full of gunk. A few good shots of
carb cleaner spray and a quick wipe down and I was bac

Howdy all,
We had a great Stir Crazy Net today which led into a good after-party.
In the later, we spoke about generators at the house. The caller brought up
that his generator main breaker wouldn't stay 'set' and would always go to
'tripped'.
Common debugging and possible repair ideas were shar
Well, heck...
I pushed my generators out of the garage and fired up #1 and #2, no
problems.
Wouldn't you know it, #3 won't hit a lick. Runs on starter fluid but not on
gasoline. I am betting on a fouled carburetor. I have a little something to
do later...

Howdy,
I am looking forward to the BVARC meeting tonight!
While studying for the General, I have grabbed up an 8-band QRP unit off
eBay for cheap. This is widely available as the uSDR uSDX+[1], in several
formats. Mine happens to be the 'white button'.
It claims coverage on 80m/60m/40m/30m/20m/1
