Typically, the linear style supply loses its pass xstrs or 723 regulator. It also has a SCR over voltage protection on the output. Clamps the + to ground...the fold back circuit in the 723 prevents burn up. If it hums when turned in, I'd check that first. Remove the OVP and check voltage unloaded.

If anyone comes over to New Orleans with DMR, be sure to check in on my 444.6. It is at 750ft AGL in downtown running CC1 on Brandmiester. About 60mile mobile coverage (I can get into it just east of Baton Rouge mobile). TX statewide TG3148 is static on TS1 and La Statewide TG3122 is static on TS2.
