If you want to attach a markup to a multi-measure rest, why not simply use
R2.^\markup{ "Fà ch'ogn'uno tralasci e balli canti"}
which has been supported since version 2.4. Then, the text will not stretch
the measure. If you want the text left aligned instead of the default
centered
alignment, yo
