I seem to have solved most of my problems:
The errors seem to have been produced by wrong symlinks, perhaps the
result of having both lilypond 2.2.6 and lilypond-snapshot 2.4.2 installed.
The symlink for lilypond is in /usr/share/texmf/tex/lilypond and points
to /usr/share/lilypond
As a followup to my report of 24.03 here is the following output when I
use code directly in the file:
/usr/bin/lilypond-book-snapshot (GNU LilyPond) 2.4.2
Reading liederbuchtest.tex...
Dissecting...
/usr/bin/lilypond-book-snapshot: warning: deprecated ly-option used:
