No.
I can answer that question, but I don't know the answer to the rest of it.

Is Lilypond using TeTex? It looks like it is, but like it wants it's own
installation and

two installations is causing problems.
I finally got a crash that told me where Lilypond does write reports
(since the feedback window was
blank).

message, with no indication about the measure or line where the error
