PNG images in the 2.7.9 documentation doesn't work in IE

Starting with Lilypond 2.7.9 it seems as if PNG images have alpha channel transparency turned on as default. Unfortunately Internet Explorer can't handle such images - the transparent parts are black; not very useful. Is there an option to turn transparency off? If not, can we have such an option,
