I've downloaded Lilypond from the Fink web site but I cannot get it to
open.

I have not fixed the lilypond-book bug I reported yesterday,
however, I fixed another one before I reported it, namely that
the invocation of preLilyPondExample and postLilyPondExample
was completely wrong. The fix has been done both for 2.2 and 2.3
in CVS.
