There's something fishy with the midi's barchecking code, especially when it
comes to lyrics. The following produces an unmotivated warning
/tmp/foo.ly:40:28: warning: barcheck failed at: 5/8:

A footnote in the documentation requests we submit a bug report if we can't
find something. It seems that \fatText and \emptyText are missing from the
index. In fact, I can't find mention of them anywhere in the manual.

I have successfully managed to compile and run Lilypond versions up to and
including Lily 2.1.2.
I tried last night to install Lily 2.1.6, and it compiled successfully.
However, when I tried to run it, it processed the music fine, but then failed
when trying to call Latex. I tried Lily 2.1.7,
