Is this the "new" console? I.e. the one with virtual consoles? You
could try pressing C-A-BACKSPACE and restart it. Not entierly sure
where you ought to look for this bug, I don't even remeber if there is
a `screensaver' blanker thingy in the console which could contain a
bug.
