Finally, I got my file_notice_changes() program working. Not only does
it demonstrate how to implement a simple server, it also makes it
possible to observe modifications made on any of a set of files. By
default, all kinds of modifications are recognized, but this behaviour
can be modified,

is it difficult to resurrect the execdata stream stuff in exec for libio
based systems? It is required to start programs from filesystem which don't
implement io_map, which is currently for example NFS and ftpfs.

here is the test program and the Makefile I used to reproduce this. The
test program does not have a fork() anymore (I had one, but it messed up the
output and wasn't relevant anyway, so I removed it).

it shouldn't be. This makes the screen program leak the utmp gid into the shells,
