With current emacs-24.4 of git 0276f69, the following crash occurs:
I start emacs, which seems to launch a gtk version.
Then I click on the first icon in the upper left, labelled
"Specify a new's file name, to edit the file".
The program crashes with the following message:
(emacs:22810): GLib-GIO
This would greatly increase the number of people who can actually try
out Guix as they can use a common virtualization tool rather than
installing on their own computer.

I think we’ll end up doing that, due to popular demand. ;-)
That said, QEMU can deal with USB images
