Following the update to v0.15.0 profanity no longer builds on x86_64.
Here is some hopefully relevant error messaging:

I've since been able to complete a guix pull; which makes this bug
report unhelpful. If not automatically closed, please feel free to
close it.
If anything the bug here is simply that a deeply nested and local networking
error
can prevent guix from completing the calculation of a valid derivativ

Running guix pull succeeded. It isn't clear what changed to allow it to
succeed when it had repeatedly failed over the past 48 hrs but this
ticket should now be closed. I am grateful for the hidden hands and/or
magic that made this possible.
