Follow-up Comment #1, bug #66122 (group groff): Let me have a look at things, see if there are any issues beyond your proposed change. The misplaced elements in slide-demo aren't showing up on my system. I just processed the file with 1.23.0.1757-8fe01. Everything's fine.
