December 15 is the rough target date for releasing version 5.3 of brltty. Would
each of you, as much as is possible, please upgrade to the latest develoment
code and give it a thorough test as we'd like this new release to be as
problem-free as possible.

I am using development code from about November 17 successfully, except
that Orca is not seeing it at the login screen, it does see it once I
log in, its a mystery to me, but otherwise its working well.

Does Orca speak on th
I copied the user settings to gdm, so they are the same. Orca does not
speak at login because of a speech dispatcher problem, the debug log
says no bindings available even though it does work once I log in
normally.

Looks good. Can you go into Orca's settings while on the login screen just to
confirm what the braille settings are?

I don't think I can do that since I don't have Braille and no audio --
if I could get an environment variable in the orca space so speech
dispatcher would behave, that would solve the problem, but I have not
been able to do that since its inside some subprocess of gdm.
