What's the point of having choice? For starters, Brltty works much more
reliable in a Terminal + patched GNU Screen then VO does in the Terminal.

I have it running successfully on OS X 10.8. I think the 4.5 release
compiled without problems there. I don't run 10.9 so I can't say
something about that.

That's just a build warning. All it means is that braille devices which are
operated by writing to and/or reading from I/O ports won't be supported. No
reasonably new braille device
i think some dependies must be installed from macports
i have

brltty works much better in terminal than the braille for voiceover does. Also
one doesn't end up with all the line end symbols all over terminal with brltty.
