Hello,
is it possible to use BrlAPI together with MS Speech API in the same
program? Or alternatively with a different speech API that is free (a
german voice should be available)?
I could use MinGW. I'd like to use Visual C++ instead, but I don't know if
BrlAPI can be used with it. I tried, but

Well, yes, we understand what it's saying, but it's saying something that
shouldn't be occurring. :-)
Could you please do another test?
Hi,
I tried
valgrind ./tbl2hex ../Tables/fr_FR.ttb >/dev/null 2>/path/to/log-file :
after an ./autogen, it doesn't find it (even from Programs/ ). Only
tbl2hex.c appears, I guess it's not binary. So I tried after ./configure
(the line I show to start this thread). After ./configure, I do again

Hi Sam,
The process you told me gives these 2 lines in the logfile:
Couldn't translate keysym 00A4 to keycode.
Couldn't translate keysym 00A4 to keycode.
Does it give you a useful info?

Yes: U+A4 is not the euro sign
Hi,
So the issue is in brltty, before xbrlapi. Could you post the complete

What do you mean? The braille table? Braille table is fr_FR.ttb with
added manually line for eurosign content in en_CA.ttb. To do my euro
sign, I do 1 5 8 (it appears wit

Ah, that's why. You need to commend
Hi,
Oops sorry I think I mixed tables. :( It's the problem because I dont
work with default fr_FR.ttb but a modified table. Anyway the currency
line weren't commented, so I did. And... still nothing.
So let's sum up :)
1. On a terminal:
echo "keycode 254 = EuroSign " | xmodmap -
2. In fr_FR.ttb

Ok, so at least it's now correct up to xbrlapi.

Perfect. :) Thanks Sam now it works. That's right the hardest problem

Thanks very much.

Do you think we should make this change (replace currency symbol with Euro sign
in fr_FR.ttb) official in brltty's development

I think it's a good idea as in this table (I remember I had worked on it when
it was called text.fr-iso01.tbl, and I based myself on a very old ASCII

It is present in the fr-2007 standard merely because it exists in
cp1252. I
For now, in the fr_FR text table in the development stream, the currency symbol
has been removed and the Euro sign has been added (as dots 158).

After Sam's explanations, I think it's a good idea. Not everybody use
the table, not everybody need this sign, in particular not everybody
need to type it on braille keyboard; whereas Euro has to be read,
entered by an European user. So I agree.
