Aldo: Did you edit /etc/default/brltty? Not to be a nag but you don't mention it. Also, it makes sense that you wouldn't get braille until you've edited the brltty.conf. And yes, it is the template before you do your editing of brltty.conf; Ubuntu (at least this version) does not edit it for you

I looked at Aldo's script.txt. He's still putting usb in upper case. The ps command shows that brltty is running. A good temporary test is to rename /etc/brltty.conf to something else (/etc/tempdestroy for example). That way you know it's not getting in the way. Then restart the system. The -q
