The first thing you should try is this command:
python -c "import brlapi"
If you get errors from it, then you do no

just a small issue I hope thatis, I ust instaleld gnome 2.20 + roca on my
laptop.
X works, gnome works, even orca seams to work with speech thatis.
however, brltty is not working, at least not under ngome.
However, brltty is compiled off the most resent svn with brlapi included.
