I'm using a BrailleSense U2, too, on an Ubuntu 14 (well a Vinux 5, to be
specific). I didn't have anything to do, however. When I plugged it,
the BrailleSense was recognized by BRLTTY at once. What version of
BRLTTY are you running on? I used the 4.5, 5.2 and 5.3 but all three
recogni
