Conc. A Rd we headed for Old Cut on Long Point and on the way we spotted some
blackbirds on 4th Ave. that runs off of Erie Blvd so we drove onto 4th Ave. and

Today I did a long and tiring stroll on the spit and as well as the multitude
of other birds seen I found an adult Lark Sparrow on Pipit Point in the
morning. This bird was well seen and did not flush and fly off but went back to
ground and I suspect kept on feeding as I really d
an that. There is a van available after 9
am from Victoria Day weekend to Thanksgiving Day weekend that will take you out
or back. The "SPIT" is only open on the weekend as they are still building it.

change since last Friday. New migrants and increases in the earlier migrants
i.e. White-throated Sparrow - up from dozens to hundreds.
During the beautiful weather I started at the Wards Island end and birde

spring day (gloat, gloat) and we found some interesting birds as we roamed

birding Hanlans Point.We figured that with the rainy and windy weather the past
couple of days that many birds would decide to move last night and this seems
to be what happened as the number of Sparro
today.
D-C Cormorant, Ruddy Duck, Trumpeter Swan, Cackling Goose, A. Wigeon,
Blue-winged Teal, Ring-necked Duck, White-winged Scoter, all 3 Mergansers,
Sharp-shinned Hawk, N. Goshawk, A. Coot, Northern Shrike and Pine Siskin.

Today was such a warm and calm day I thought it was March so I headed for The
Spit with Ed O’Conner and following are a few of the birds we found down there.

Good Evening
Today Margaret Liubavicius and I headed down to The Spit to hopefully find the
2 King Eiders found by Ed O`Conner yesterday and we were successful in that
search. We found the birds on the lake off the right hand point of Pipit Point.
They were only about 25 feet off shore so we h

of a large female Moose and her yearling calf at Km 1.5

Directions per Ron Tozer:Algonquin Park is three hours north of Toronto, via
Highways 400,11 and 60. Follow the signs, which start in Toronto on Highway
400.From Ottawa, take Highway 17 to Renfrew, then follow Highway
The two King Eiders that were found last Saturday by Ed O`Conner and were seen
again on Sunday and Monday are still out there. They were in the East Cove
which is beside Pipit Point which is the furthest point out on the southwest
part of The Spit (take the left hand road at the Quonset Hut). Th
Hagersville turn southeast on
County Road 20 and drive down past Hwy 3 and you are in the Fisherville area.
Drive any of the roads west of County Road 20 and check the roadsides, fields
and trees.

Stan and I checked out the sparse number of waterfowl off L. Sayer's Park

just below Empire Corners and drive to the Grand River at Hwy 64 and turn
left to Cayuga checking for Owls all along the way except at the OPP

I have never heard from a Veery, 1 singing Hermit Thrush and 2
juvenile Ruffed Grouse.
Time to head home so we did.

Good evening, almost good morning.
I just got in from 2 days of great birding and this evening Stan Bajurny
and I stopped at the Townsend lagoons on our way home and our count of
shorebirds were about what Jean Iron and Ron Pittaway reported with some
additions as birds were arriving as we stood
Sharp-shinned Hawk dive bombing
the giant (to it) Red-tails. These birds were drifting in a westerly
direction.
Other birds of note elsewhere were 3 Emu and 2 Ostriches, don't email me
for directions. ( These were not escapees as they were penned in ).
