I did not refind the Brant. I looked along most of the rocky waterfront in the
park. I don't think they are still around... perhaps they moved on to Marie
Curtis Park or beyond... Ratray's Mash? There would be little point to looking
for them in the morning to those of you whom emailed askin
e this helps birders look more carefully at "smaller" geese in Ontario,
and to take a look at potential "Cackling Geese" that may in fact be these
other subspecies that aren't illustr
st to the eastern bay.

Wednesday (three days after the last reported sighting by Garth Riley). It was
in Port Burwell harbour. There are a LOT of gulls between Port Burwell and
Port Stanley harbours and many, many more in the agricultural fie
town of Fergus, then east on a smaller hwy to Belmont
Lake - look it up, it's on your map!

A late evening lake watch yielded a great # of swallows. Between Col. Sam's
eastern bay and looking east to Humbay Bay Park area I was able to view well
over 1000 swallows. This is excellent given how our aerial foragers are in
decline.

Hey all. Just wanted to point out that perhaps our friend the Northern
Wheatear never even made it off of Wolfe Island. When I was viewing on
Saturday evening with my girlfriend Sarah we saw several American Kestrels,
a Merlin and many Northern Harriers within binocular view or a quarter mile
ugh the loons were moving west again as night fell.

Directions: Toronto St. is just up from the Speed River where it
ourtland on Hwy #3 and continuing south on HWY 59 which eventually brings you
right along the inner bay at Long Point. Big Creek Marsh is opposite the bay
and there is a small parking area on the west side of 59. I suggest birding
