Sorry, I didn't realize that line was coming from my own Makefile.
The Makefile was there for historic reasons, but I think can be removed
now, so that will probably fix the problem.

thank you for reporting the problem. It is not clear to me why do you need
a Makefile to build your vignette in first place, could you maybe explain
the motivation behind it?
