I would just use nsupdate to manage the static entries.
(Maybe I should add a partial zone mode to nsdiff...)

You can freeze thaw or use nsupdate to dynamically add the static entries.
rndc freeze
Edit zone
rndc thaw
You will lose any ddns updates during the freeze.
