I have successfully built on CentOS 5.5 (32bit)
(I do a very simple install with no desktop.. )
BIND 9.7.1-P2 built with '--prefix=/usr/local'
'--sysconfdir=/etc/namedb' '--disable-openssl-version-check'
'--with-openssl=yes'

Compiling from source is very simple once

My understanding is that you don't need this unless you're planning on
using hardware security modules. You can still generate and manage keys
without pkcs11.
