We have been running versions of Bind on Windows servers for many years in VMware virtual environments. This includes both the old VMserver versions and all versions of ESX/ESXi all the way from 2.53 to version VSphere 4.1 without any issues. We are running both masters and slaves. You should no

Walter: I have compiled bind 9.8.0 on Ubuntu Natty on a number of VMs on ESXi 4.1 and 5.0. There have been no problems with either authoritative or recursive name services. The potential issues with NTP on virtual machines are, I think, not related. They have to do with the fact that the VM does
