Yeah Warren you are correct. That seems to be a hack for adding subdomain. So to answer your queries what I wanted to achieve is mail.example.com will be my subdomain [again its just not gonna be my host entry] it will be a delegated sub-domain for which I'll build internal DNS server for Loadbalan
