I don't want to remove the functionality, I just want to make it less
distracting by adjusting the (currently non existent) theme options. It is very
visually distracting and often times makes it impossible to see some parts of
your mesh, even when in wireframe mode.
To recap, the functionalit
reading the first post and you dont say whats wrong with the
active-face face drawing, why would you want to disable this? whats
wrong with it being there? :)

Would it be possible to simply allow theme options for it?
The options I would like to see are:
Stipple size (including ability to disable stippling)
Stipple color
Overlay color
Overlay alpha
With those four options I think most people could adjust to their preference.

Eeeeh, I;m not that fussed - but it shouldn't be too hard to see,
problem with center of face is in wire mode with overlapping geometry
it could be hard to know which face is active.
This could also be made more subtle by simply tweaking the stipple
pattern/alpha/color too.

What options do we have for displaying it? Personally I would like to see the
overlay removed entirely and instead indicate it some much more subtle manner,
such as a small circle around the center of the face or something.

That'd be great, just note that the way the active face is drawn is a
bit inflexible/cumbersome to change in our code.
Its been suggested to draw different colors but this conflicts with
solid-mode material view where the material color would make it hard
to distinguish a face based on a color tin
That all makes perfect sense then, thanks for filling me in. If no one has any
obligations, I would like to put together a quick design mockup to change how
the active element is displayed in the viewport so as to be much less
distracting?

Sorry for late response on this, I dont think the original question
was answered.
The reason to have this persistent is because of UV mapping - the
image displayed on the UV/Image editor is always from this face.
This is very similar to active object or active pose bone - you don't
want the UV im

When doing certain weighting/VertexGroup tasks, being able to see
which vertex is "active" is quite useful.

it does, but if you switch to another Select Mode, these white dots
still appear even though the "active" selection is now a vertex or an
edge.
I'd vote for this to appear only on F
Hi,
I think it serves as the "active" selection and is used in tools such
as for example pivot point set to active. While I can see that it may
be annoying it also indicates information used in some of the tools.
No strong opinion on that, maybe it can be turned on-off like the
manipulator?

Hi Devs :)
With BMesh now merged in trunk and the focus moved to really improving the
modeling tools I'd like to make a small visual request/proposal to go along
with it.
Currently whenever you select a face in face mode, that last face you selected
receives a white dotted/dashed overlay that
12 matches
