Hi ,
I have written a module "DbSession" which uses CTlib. I did my testing
using perl 5.8.0 and it worked fine. I now realise that I have to get my
module working with perl 5.004 and sybperl version 2.13_A1_561. I am using
Sypase OCS 12.5.1(64 - bit).
But when I try to run my code

Is there a version of Oracle:DBD that will compile
with 5.8.0 or do I have to rollback to 5.6.1?
Howdy:
I have been trying to install Oracle:DBD 1.14 or 1.15
with perl 5.8.0 and after adding different paths to
compensate for the missing Config.pm, et al, it
finally said, '... this isn't 5.6.0' and the process
stopped.

No, there are no binaries of 5.8.
Today, I not in mind to build it myself.
Have to code a little.

If you want to build from the source files (recommended approach)
http://www.cpan.org/src/stable.tar.gz
This is the link for binaries

Anyone here who has the binary files of perl 5.8 for AIX 4.3.3?
Any idea where I can get the bins?

5.8.0 uses a new threading model. It works well, by all accounts.

Also full threading, I hear, though I think that those two are the real
meat of the upgrade. When I asked this question recently it basically
boiled down to "if you're happy with 5.6.1 then just stick with it" and
that's wha

Ok, I'm a bit behind the times... :-)
What are the major advantages (if any) to moving to 5.8.0? I'm running
5.6.1 right now... Is it worth it? Is it fully backwards compatible?

Where/How can one get a copy of the perl 5.8 development version?
I have the 5.7.3 development version and have been testing with perlio/sfio,
Solaris 2.8, >256 files open with >2gb files.
I'm hoping that this specific set of requirements works better under 5.8,
but I'd like to try it asap.
