Probably not, Excel is Excel and open Office is open office
However if you search CPAN for openoffice, you might find something to

Updated yesterday, Spreadsheet::ParseExcel
Put 'excel' into the box at http://search.cpan.org/ and you may find
others, like Spreadsheet::DataF
