What're the error messages you got? What OS are you using? Have you
set the network and DNS correctly?

read it for quite some time and solved problems mainly by myself this far -
nothing particularly advanced yet.

Edit CPAN configuration.
(do not forget to back up)
For example:
edit file: /usr/lib/perl5/5.6.0/CPAN/Config.pm
and change the statement:
'urllist' => [q[bla .. bla.. bla..]]

Cannot install Net::IMAP, don't know what it is.
Try the command
i /Net::IMAP/
to find objects with matching identifiers.
