can't use CPAN with Mandrake 9.2

This might be better off on a Mandrake list, but I was hoping for an answer here (esp. since I'm already subscribed here :-) I tried to install Getopt:Simple via CPAN on my new Mandrake 9.2 box. I get this Error: Unable to locate installed Perl libraries or Perl source cod
