TL;DR - UTF-8 is likely sufficient, but what do I know, I operate only in English and French... - v3 will support UTF-8 everywhere in the syntax, via RE/flex - no point in changing something so deep in v2 at this stage, it'll just cause a lot of flex-related bugs on something we're getting rid of a
