I don't think it can be done by USB. The SAS-to-USB chips operate in "mass storage" mode, suitable for SAS hard drives. The LTO drive will need an adapter that operates in SCSI emulation mode. I don't know of any adapters that aren't strictly for hard drives, but maybe there are. Another appro

USB if supported by Bacula. I have worked for lab and training with DDS3 USB drives. you detect them the same as scsi (lsscsi -g) Of course here you don't see the "mediumx" you only see the TAPE , you don't declare autochanger, only the devices [image: width=]

Hi all, This might be considered slightly off topic but has anybody tried installing USB3 PCIe card in an external LTO tape drive? Many models appear to have 2 slots with only one occupied by SAS by default, e.g: https://www.bechtle.com/de-en/shop/quantum-lto-7-hh-sas-external-drive--4038311
