Great, I played around a bit more and eventually got it working by
downloading pre compiled ports for mysql-server/mysql-client and and
then completing a make install for the bacula-server port.
I download a pre compiled pack
I download a pre compiled package and installed... now i receive:
bacula-dir: sql_update.c:266-0 NumVols=0
bacula-dir: sql_create.c:341-0 In create mediatype
bacula-dir: sql_create.c:344-0 selectmediatype: SELECT
MediaTypeId,MediaType FROM MediaType WHERE MediaType='File'
bacula-dir: mysql.c:237-
Your libmysqlclient_r.so.16 is miscompiled. See
