I would install ubuntu server 16.04x and select lamp if you like mysql,
as well as openssh, and any other options that are listed on the initial
setup screen. Dont use the option to choose more packages, which opens
additional screens. Doing that never goes well for me. you can add that

Anyone have a nice easy to follow How to for installing and configuring
Bacula on Ubuntu 16.04? I've tried several I've found online and they all
fall short or don't deal with 16.04.

Due to a trivial oversight the update_bacula_tables did not permit
upgrading from 7.4.x to 7.9.x. So I fixed the problem as well as a few
other things and have released a BETA 7.9.1 to bacula.org. Since this
is a beta release, I do not plan to release it to Source Forge.
