So, its not some sort of ssl issue?
I have had other server back up remote hosts for years. How should SD be
configured then, if box is behind firewall, with port forwarding. Never
had an issue on other installs.

Just setup bacula on a new Ubuntu install. Local backups work fine,
but a new server 2003 client cannot connect to the sd. I can telnet to
the bacula box from the client on ports 9101, and 9103, check status of
client, and estimate files, but cannot get backups to work.
