From my --admittedly very limited-- experience is with LTO2 drives from
HP and LTO3 ones from IBM I would say that while IBM drives "feel" more

sg_rmsn is supposed to read the Media Serial Number. It doesn't work for
any of my tape drives though (including a HP LTO3).

We currently are implementing Bacula 3.0.3a as our backup system on a mix of
Windows XP and RHEL 4.8 machines. We used a altlinux based distribution called
Bran that offers a decent web interface for reporting and initiating backups.
So far we haven't had any significant outages that would req

If you are referring to the tape volumename, a convenient way of
extracting volumenames can be to run a database

My backup was a file backup and i have some old backups files still in my
possession but purged from the catalog.
