I'd like to write catalog information to CD/DVD to accompany my tape
sets, which will be between 1 and 15 LT04 tapes. I'm using Postgres
for the Catalog. The idea is to make it easy for people to restore from
these tapes 10 years from now.
The idea is that someone can read the CD and learn about B

Hi All,
Hi am new in Bacula and not a very expert in Linux. I have one USB drive that I
need to use for backing up. Is there any body can help me sending me step by
step direction so that I can complete the backup? I will appreciate

Thanks all, this is good information.
I'm in the process of finishing a full 6TB backup, will see how hardware
compression performed.

Hi... I have tred to restore some email files from Bacula but I've got

I currently use file storage for my bacula backups. It is working
beautifully and bacula is great!
Volumes are created in a single directory in a linux file system.
Now I need to expand that capacity and I would like to have the volumes
go to a second directory on a different file system.

Hi at all,
I got a trouble: a server of our server farm runs some perl scripts that
are bad influenced by Bacula backup.
Until our developers will return from holiday (damn), I need to limit
bacula speed.

Again use "lsscsi -g" to get detailed and direct information about your
devices. Below is the output for my system
[r...@bkupsvr2 ~]# lsscsi -g
[0:0:0:0]diskATA WDC WD3000HLFS-0 04.0 /dev/sda /dev/sg0
[1:0:0:0]diskATA WDC WD3000HLFS-0 04.0 /dev/sdb /dev/sg1
[5:0:0
Try using
lsscsi -g to show all your connected tape/changer and disk drives.

Hi Martin,
Thanks for your reply.
Youre were right!
I changed the Maximum Volume directive to 100 and the script did function.
I used the same parameters for testing as the parameters for my real backup
and forgot that the retentionperiod of 1/2 year would not be reached (One

I have bacula 5.0.2 with 1 LTO drive.

wrong tape. The script is not the problem but I can't figure out where
to place it in the SD configuration. Using

Hello Chris,
Many thanks for the input. You are right: things are working if I place
the shell commands in a script instead of trying to pass them directly
with bacula.
The second mistake I made is not setting "RunsOnClient" to "No". The
default seems to be "Yes". Either I missed this or the do
