Personally, I would dump to a text file and copy the output to another
system. And back it up to tape.

Yes, that will be fine. Make sure you properly dump and not just rsync

you're right, you need to have the same install dir on every machine. I would
suggest putting every thing into one dir:
./configure --prefix=/usr/local/bacula --with-fd-user=root --with-fd-group=root
--enable-client-only
Change /usr/local/bacula to wherever you want to install and copy th
